Come on Feel the Noise

A quiet riot is occurring in the state of Washington.  Thanks to Dr. Bob Boyles for this update.

The Physical Therapy Association of Washington State (PTWA) held their Legislative Impact Day at the state capitol in Olympia on January 28th.  IMG00063-20100128-1008Not surprisingly, the main message that the PTs  brought to the legislators was the lifting of the prohibition on PTs providing spinal manipulation. If we thought last year’s attendance of 600+ was remarkable, we exceeded the turnout by over 200! Yes, over 800 PTs turned out to support the manipulation legislation. So large was the turnout that there was no single room to hold us all. The morning information rally was conducted in the Washington Center for the Performing Arts followed by a march of 800 PTs with yellow umbrellas (no, it wasn’t raining on us) to the capitol campus where we had a huge tent on the capitol grounds. There is no ignoring a circus-sized tent and 800 PTs in your front yard! We had many scheduled visits with legislators throughout the day to voice our concerns. IMG00069-20100128-1208The overall impression and feelings were positive towards our initiative. Although we probably won’t get the bill to the floor this year (once again the budget is the overriding issue) we made great steps towards our initiative to repeal the prohibition on spinal manipulation.  The revolution continues to grow and the change agents are in place and active.

Viva la revolution!

Bob

For the readers of the remaining 49 states I have a question.   Is this the typical turnout for your Legislative Impact Day?
