How Many Does this Reach?

Does the public read this?  The News

For the specific population of those receiving total hip arthroplasties, will the majority of the audience receive the above message?  Was this the best avenue for the message for the targeted audience?

I believe a good message was sent... will it be received by a vast majority of the target audience though?

If we only had a major radio campaign...or could sign up Martha as the Ortho docs signed up Joan Rivers. There is still time to do this. Perhaps Martha would like to do some public address campaigns!

... does the public watch this???!!!

I just picked this up from Rehabedge.com..
I'm speechless (ahh.. that's amazing?)

(Although it probably helps if your daughter is Judy Barry, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a major news paper like The Wall Street Journal.)

Wow Taylor, that is amazing that he is the "only doctor in the world" manipulating patellas. What have PT's been doing all this time?

I'm all for educating the public, but when I see this even the average joe should raise the flag of skepticism, especially when it is blatantly self gratutitous for this physician.

Wow.

It's hard for me to tell who's more irresponsible: the media outlet that ran this stupid story or the orthopod jiggling the ladies patella back and forth.

You know, though, his technique does look eerily similar to the one described by one of the posters over in the "Pain" discussion group on skin-stretching for knee pain. Maybe he's just innately in tune with that lady's insular cortex?

In all seriousness, I'd be wary of an ad campaign with a celebrity. Normal people have become a bit jaded with all the latest cures and horn-tooting of the latest, great fix for their ache or pain. Also, using a celebrity can be a double edged sword. Martha's definitely got her credibility problems after serving federal time. Maybe we should wait until Laura bush needs her hip or knee replaced?

Nevermind, it won't matter then 'cause we'll have universal health care, and all the problems in our health care delivery system will be solved, and all PTs will be paid a fair salary.
