Exercise For Arthritis Related Joint Pain

Source: Hickory Daily Record | AP News

"Grandma, have you exercised today?"

A news release about a recent Austrailian research study published in the Journal of Arthritis Research & Therapy.  I haven't seen the report, but evidently older women (>70yrs) received long-term benefit (less joint pain at 3yrs) from exercising at least 75 minutes a week.  The same benefit was not observed in middle aged women.

Anyone familiar with the details of this study care to comment?  Anyone interesting in marketing the value of physical therapy care to comment?

I wonder if we will see any substantial marketing initiatives from the APTA resluting in AP releases about the value of exercise and the combination of exercise and manual therapy for older people with joint pain.  There is definitely enough evidence and interest to make a case but perhaps not enough novelty.
