James Lind Library

I was searching for an article on James Lind, the physician who demonstrated proof of the effectiveness of citrus fruits in the prevention of scurvy in the 18th C, when I came across this terrific website: www.jameslindlibrary.org.  The website and organization was started by Iain Chalmers, a pillar of quality health care and one of the earliest proponents of EBM. The website was "created to help people understand fair tests of treatments in health care by illustrating how fair tests have developed over the centuries." The website has some terrific reads on the history of research, biases and other issues in the development of RCTs as the research 'gold standard' in evidence for effectiveness of Rx (particularly, one-on-one comparisons of Rx interventions in medicine). Give it a look, and enjoy the read. Happy holidays,

Britt
