By the way, I can't say enough positive things about the Biomed Central family of Open Access journals. They are pointing the rest of the journal industry toward a revolutionary publication standard. How long will it take our professional journals to recognize where the future lies? Our track record suggests it will take awhile. We seem to always have plenty of reasons about why now is not the time, putting us towards the end of the line in adopting revolutionary ideas. This is a publication model that we should adopt early. There are plenty of reasons that might encourage caution, not the least of which is understanding how the economics of such a model will work. However, should we be willing to take a risk, much opportunity exists by getting on this 'train' now.
